617,407. Furniture legs. STIRLING, F. Oct. 1, 1946, No. 29179. [Class 52 (iii)] A folding leg for a table or the like is mounted in an inverted cup-shaped socket 1 which houses the tubular upper end of the leg 2 and is slotted to permit movement of said leg from the vertical supporting position to a collapsed horizontal position the leg being held in both positions by a spring 5 located within the upper end of the leg and anchored to a projection 4 in the base of the socket. The socket is slotted on one side from its outer end to a short distance from the base so that in order to effect movement from one position to the other it is first necessary to pull the leg outwards against the action of the spring, the leg then fulcrums about and slides over the projection in the socket, the projection being accommodated in a suitable slot or recess in the uppermost part of the leg.
