Abstract

609,242. Office chairs. DAVIS, A. M., and DAVIS, R. Y. C., [Representatives of DAVIS, H. G.] March 8, 1946, No. 7334. [Class 52(ii)] The back-rest 15 of an office chair is mounted at the upper end of an arm 5 pivoted to the chair frame 2 at 4 and forked at 5a to engage an abutment 7 on a nut 6 threaded on a horizontal spindle 8 rotatable in the chair frame, a helical spring 13 being interposed between the end of the arm and the chair frame to force the arm against the abutment. The spindle is turned by a knob 10 to adjust the backrest, the square nut 6 being held in the forked end of the arm. The arm 5 is telescopic for vertical adjustment.
