Abstract
657.997. Bolt - cutters. AIRCRAFTMARINE PRODUCTS, Inc. June 23, 1949, No. 16666. Convention date, July 6,. 1948. [Class 61(ii)] [Also in Group XXII] A bolt cutter comprises apertured cutters one of which is threaded to receive the screw of the bolt. An outer cylindrical member 34 is rotated on a fixed member 38 by a handlever 36. The member 34 carries tapped holes 35 which can be aligned with plain holes 39 in the member 38. A bolt is screwed into the appropriate hole 35 to project into the hole 39 and shearing is effected by manipulation of the handle 36. In a modification the holes are carried on the jaws of pliers and in a further modification a rackreciprocated partially apertured cutter cooperates with a tapped stationary apertured cutter.
