Abstract

589,085. Switch contacts. HOPE, V. Dec. 9, 1944, No. 24712. [Class 38 (v)] In a contact adapted to receive a blade contact between its limbs, one limb, or a part associated therewith, is provided with recesses or projections co-operating with recesses or projections on a tightening member. Fig. 1 shows a sectional plan of a contact block wherein the contact 14 has limbs 12, 13 and a tightening member 22 is pivoted on a screw 18, passing freely through the parts 22, 12, 13 and provided with lock-nuts 19. When a vertical screw engaging a threaded swivel 24 is rotated it depresses that end of the member 22 and the consequent rotation thereof displaces recesses 28a relative to recesses 28 in a plate 21 non-rotatably associated with the limb 13. Steel balls 29 riding in recesses 28, 28a then force the limb 13 to clamp on to the blade contact (not shown) of a fuse link. A connecting clamp 15 or bus-bar may be screwed to the contact 14 at 16.
