Abstract
657,164. Electromagnetic switches. TELEMECANIQUE ELECTRIQUE. Jan. 26, 1949, No. 2152. Convention date, April 22, 1948. [Class 38(v)] The armature 15 of an electromagnetic switch is loosely mounted in a member 12 pivoted at 11 and engages the member 12 at a point 40 further from the axis 11 than the furthest limb 8 of the electromagnet. The biassing spring 29 tends to rotate the member 12 clockwise so that its turned over end 24 in engaging the armature tends to increase the pressure of the lower end of the armature on the lower pole 10 of the magnet relatively to the pressure of the upper end of the armature on the upper pole but this is compensated by removing the inner laminations of the electromagnet at the region 16. The carrier 12 is of sheet metal bent into U-shape, the sides of the U loosely embracing the armature. Screwed to the carrier 12 is a member 25 which is pivoted at 14 and which also serves as a stop for the armature but in the " closed " position shown the stop is not engaged. A gap also exists at 14 between the armature and the middle limb 9 of the electromagnet. The limb 8 is provided with a short-circuited winding 13 and the winding 34 is wound on the limb 9 and consists of two coils divided by a partition 35 carrying terminals 36 which serves for mounting the winding on the magnet support.
