656,904. Weighing-apparatus. RUNDLE, L. A. July 22, 1948, No. 19586. [Class 143] A weighing-apparatus, employing air in compression as the weighing resistant, comprises a rack 2 supporting the weigh platform 1 and driving a pinion 5 connected with a piston having screw-threaded engagement with an air cylinder 6. The shaft 4 connecting the piston and pinion 5 is constrained against axial movement, and the cylinder 6 against rotation. The piston draws the cylinder onto itself when the platform is loaded until the load is balanced by increased pressure in the cylinder. A pointer on the shaft 4 indicates the weight on a dial marked in pounds up to ten. Ounces are shown on a second dial 13 by a pointer 35 driven from the shaft 4 through a multiplying gear. A third dial (not shown) disposed horizontally is turned step-wise by the pointer on the shaft 4 at each revolution thereof and shows multiples of ten pounds.
