Abstract

655,594. Thermionic valves. HIVAC, Ltd. Sept. 28, 1948, No. 25301. [Class 39 (i)] In a planar - electrode, stackassembled, miniature valve such as that described in Specification 619,771, the " grid " comprises a metal plate with a cut-out-aperture entirely devoid of the customary grid wires. In a pentode having a filament assembly 12 such as that described in Specification 655,567, the control 18, screen 23, and suppressor 28 electrodes have aligned apertures 21, 26, 31, respectively, the width of the apertures being comparable with the inter-turn spacing of the normal grid wires. The thickness of the insulating frames 17, 22, 27 may differ to give the desired electrode spacing, and they may be formed with locating lugs 33 as described in Specification 655,568. With a multiple-limbed filament the " grid " may have a number of slots, Fig. 4 (not shown). The slots may be tapered to give a variable-mu characteristic, Fig. 5 (not shown).
