Abstract
444,362. Thermionic valves. BRITISH THOMSON - HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London. March 14, 1935, No. 7946. Convention date, March 17, 1934. [Class 39 (i)] In a vapour or gas filled discharge device having a control electrode 7 com pletely surrounding the discharge path betweer the equipotential cathode 6 and anode 8, two trans verse baffles 21 are placec within the electrode 7, the size and spacing of the holes in the baffles and the distance between the baffles being so arranged that the grid voltage necessary to restrain the arc from starting is practically independeni of the anode voltage over the operating range. The electrode may work either as a negatively or as a positively biassed control electrode. Only a single central hole may be made in each baffle or a number of holes are used in each, the two sets of holes being in register. The cathode may be of the kind described in Specification 309,447, [Class 39 (i)]. Specifications 406,017, 413,125, and 428,517 also are referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 428,517.
