Abstract

655,564. Organs; valves. COMPTON ORGAN CO., Ltd., J., and HAWTIN, C. Nov. 17, 1947, No. 30469. [Class 88 (ii)] [Also in Group XXIX] The admission of air from a wind chest 3, Fig. 1, to an organ pipe 1 is effected by energization of an electromagnet 6 which first tilts a valve 2 to reduce the resultant air pressure acting thereon and then pulls the valve bodily from its seating. The tilting movement is obtained either by mounting the valve 2 eccentrically on the armature 5 as shown, or by having one of the polepieces 9 extended towards the armature. The valve is spring or gravity loaded.
