[Class 64(i)] [Also in Group XI] In apparatus in which liquid heated by a main heat source in one reservoir is stored in another reservoir d and a heatresponsive valve j prevents convection circulation of the liquid between the reservoirs when it is below a predetermined temperature, the valve is operated by a deformable member the deformation of which depends upon the temperature of the liquid in the liquid heating reservoir. In one form, the liquid heating reservoir is a hot-water boiler. In another form, Fig. 2, it is a chamber l heated by a tube m through which flows water from the boiler a. The reservoir d and chamber l may be formed by a horizontal partition in one tank. In other forms, Figs. 4 and 8, the storage chamber d surrounds the heating chamber o which contains a heating pipe m, Fig. 4, or an electric heating element p, Fig. 8, and the valve j, actuated by a bellows v, controls the outlet from the chamber o to the chamber d. This outlet may be at the top of the chamber o, as shown, or in a side branch near the top, when the electric heating element extends downwardly from the top. In a modification the heating and storage chambers extend horizontally.
