[Class 125(ii)] In a bottle-filling machine, the level of liquid, e.g. beer, under pressure in a supply tank 1 is the same as the filling level, the liquid being delivered through a pipe 10 by siphoning action initiated by connecting the interior of a bottle 9 to pressure, within a space 2a above liquid, e.g. water, in a tank 2. which is maintained lower than that acting on the liquid in the tank 1. In filling, a counter-pressure port 14 and then a liquid port 19 are opened, and after liquid has been delivered to a predetermined level in the bottle, the port 14 is closed and a counter-pressure port 16 opened to complete the operation, the ports being automatically controlled. The pressure in the space 1a above the liquid in the tank 1 is controlled automatically by means such as the photo-electric cell mechanism described in Specification 631,610, [Group XXXV].
