[Class 132 (i)] The fulcrum of a spring board is advanced or retracted by a double acting hydraulic jack to one end or the other of which a suitable liquid such as oil may be supplied under pressure. The spring board a is supported by a fulcrum comprising a rubber covered steel shaft b mounted in ball bearings in two carriages f united by a yoke k connected to the piston rod m of a double acting hydraulic cylinder n Guiding rods a pass through these carriages f which slide on bases g. The ends of the cylinder are connected to a pedal operated pump through a two way manually operated valve so that operation of the pedal moves the fulcrum, backwards or forwards depending on the setting of the valve, for a predetermined distance. The valve may be set in a neutral position preventing the flow of oil either way.
