Abstract

<PICT:0645710/III/1> A gas-liquid separator, particularly for use with liquid-flow meters, which comprises a containing vessel 1 and a set of horizontal liquid-flow tubes 4 therein, is characterized in that the vessel 1 is formed with an inlet space A with which the inlet ends of the tubes 4 communicate, an intermediate or separation space B with which the flow tubes 4 communicate by openings 5 and in which the gas is separated from the liquid, a liquid outlet space C from which the liquid is discharged at 11, and with which the outlet ends of the tubes 4 communicate, and a liquid inlet branch 12 through which the liquid is supplied to the inlet space, the outlet end of the branch 12 being disposed as far as possible from the inlet ends of the tubes 4 so that the distribution of flow of the liquid in the tubes 4 is equal. The distance between the partitions 3 and 6 forming the space B is preferably not less than the internal diameter of each of the tubes 4, and not more than twice that diameter. The space B communicates with a gas-collecting space 9 having a float valve-controlled outlet 8. The outlet ends of the tubes 4 are partly closed by partitions or baffles 16. The inlet branch may be arranged at the bottom of the separator as shown in dotted lines at 121.
