Abstract

A cap for an electric lamp, thermionic valve or the like is formed of a plastic cement material moulded and set by heating to about 300 DEG C. The cement comprises the following ingredients: pumice powder 85 per cent; modelling clay 5 per cent; refractory cement 5 per cent; sodium silicate 5 per cent. The modelling clay and refractory cement are mixed with water and the sodium silicate added. The pumice powder is added until a paste is produced which is then introduced into moulds.
