Abstract

636,772. Tool - holders. DAVIES, SEAFIELD, Ltd., and SEAFIELD, A. Oct. 28, 1947, No. 28712. [Class 83 (iii)] A tool-holder for a lathe &c. comprises jaws 12, 13, forming a socket to hold in ball-andsocket fashion a ball-device 16, 17 which is recessed to accommodate a tool 23, and a bolt 25 or the like passing through the jaws and the ball-device for clamping the tool in the balldevice and the jaws about the ball-device, there being a substantial clearance between the bolt and the hole therefor to allow tilting of the ball. The two parts of the ball-device 16, 17 are hinged about a headed pin 22 which may be replaced by a second tool. One or both of the jaws 12, 13 may be hinged to the shank 10, or both jaws may be offset above the shank.
