Abstract

636,339. Bearings. WILLIAMSON, U. A. F. March 18, 1947, No. 7463. [Class 12 (i)] In a bearing comprising laminated plates 10 held in tightly abutting relationship so that the edges of holes in the centre thereof form a bearing surface, at least one surface of adjacent laminµ is etched to provide lubricating passages. The plates are contained in a housing 2 having an end plate 8 bolted thereto. A circumferential groove 6 having an outlet to receive an oil pipe is disposed midway along the interior of the housing 2. The laminµ are prevented from turning within the housing 2 by splined connections therewith. In a modification a split bush bearing is constructed of semicircular laminµ within semi-circular housings. In a thrust bearing the bearing surface may comprise thin strips or ribbon of etched material wound spirally, and may be flat conical or curved. Specification 636,557, [Group I], is referred to.
