634,091. Preserving food in jars &c. HOVGAARD, V., and HOVGAARD, H. Aug. 2, 1946, No. 23159. Convention date, Aug. 2, 1945. [Class 49] [Also in Group XVII] In preserving foodstuffs in jars or bottles by heating there is employed a container 3 for the jars or bottles, a tightly fitting lid 7 for the container, and one or more openings in the central area 4 of the bottom of the container, which central area is considerably smaller than the base of the container so that the container may be placed on top of an ordinary cooking utensil 2, such as a saucepan, of smaller diameter than the container, steam from water heated in the utensil passing through the opening or openings into the container. A grid support 5 for the jars or bottles may be provided. Specification 24,188/95, [Class 66], is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also apparatus in which the water-holding utensil is integrally united with the container. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
