Abstract
632,947. Induction furnaces. TAMA, M. Jan. 30, 1947, Nos. 2885 and 2886. Convention dates, Feb. 15, 1946 and May 23, 1946. [Class 39(iii)] [Also in Group XXXV] Molten metal is discharged from a submerged resistor type induction furnace by electromagnetic pressure which is superimposed on the hydrostatic pressure of the metal. In one embodiment, a refractory and current conducting tube 8, of graphite or silicon carbide, has one end in the central vertical melting channel 7 of an induction furnace, and the other end located outside the furnace. The metal is forced through the tube, whose crosssection may be equal to or smaller than the channel 7, to moulds 26. Specifications 571,304, 575,780 and 599,439 are referred to.
