[Class 44] [Also in Group XXVIII] A quickly detachable fastening for securing together flat or curved plates or tubular members comprises complementary elements 10, 11 securable by lugs 13 to the respective plate members and together forming a projection 12, Fig. 2, having a three dimensional taper which coacts with a clamping member 14 provided with a corresponding three dimensional tapered recess. The elements 10, 11 may be of curved shape, as for example when formed on gutter pipes. In a modification, Fig. 5, for securing rods or tubes in alignment the two elements have semicircular recesses 17, 21 in which the pipes fit and are respectively provided with complementary three dimensional tapered grooves and projections 19, 22. In another modification, Fig. 7, a T- junction for tubes comprises part circular section limb portions 26, 28 having three dimensional tapering grooves 29 which receive corresponding projections on clamping pieces 31. In a modification of this form the members 31 are grooved and enclose the edges of the socket members on which the corresponding projections' are formed. In a further modification, Fig. 10, for securing angularly disposed rods &c. at their point of crossing, one rod 47 is carried in an open-sided slot 44 in a member 40 which has parallel lateral branches 42 between which the other rod passes, clamping be effected by a member 45 having three dimensional tapered projections 43, 46 engaging corresponding grooves in the branches 42.
