Abstract
630,477. Self winding cable reels. RUSHWORTH, D. Dec. 2, 1947, No. 31769. [Class 78 (ii)] Apparatus for use with portable electricallyoperated tools comprises two self-winding cable reels A, B mounted on a base C above the ground, the reels carrying respectively an electric cable G for supplying power to the tool and a suspensory cable H for taking the strain when the tool is suspended. As shown, the electric cable G and the steel cable H pass from the spring reels A and B through a common guide D to the tool (not shown). Guide D is fixed by arm F to straps E which secure the reels together and which are connected by supports to base C. Alternatively, the reels may be mounted in a cradle which may be pivotally connected to the base C which may have wheels travelling on overhead rails and there may be a second electric cable reel which may be fixed on the base and which pays out cable to permit movement of the base C on its wheels.
