Abstract

629,205. Two-stroke engines. SOC. ANON. DES USINES CHAUSSON. Oct. 15, 1947, No. 27652. Convention date, Oct. 17, 1946. [Classes 7 (ii), 7 (iii) and 7 (vi)] Liquid fuel is continuously injected into a chamber 10 separated from the combustion chamber by a valve 11 which is opened early in the compression stroke and closed before ignition. Helical vanes 17 are arranged in the port so that the rich mixture formed in the chamber 10 is whirled as it enters the combustion chamber. The liquid fuel is supplied by a pump 34 and scavenging air to a piston-controlled port 8 by a blower 19 and conjoint control from a pedal 43 is provided by a linkage connecting an air throttle valve 22 and a liquid-fuel bypass needle valve 37. In a multicylinder engine a single pump 34 and a single blower 19 supply all the cylinders.
