Abstract
623,970. Electromagnetic relays. ROTAX Ltd., and HAMILTON, R. F. G. June 11. 1947, No. 15359. '[Class 38(v)] A frequency-responsive relay has two windings 7, 8 acting in opposition and respectively connected through rectifiers 9. 10 to two resonant circuits 2, 4 and 1, 3 which are arranged in parallel and are turned to different frequencies. The terminals 5, 6 are connected to a variable speed A.C. dynamo so that as the speed, and therefore the frequency, increases, one winder, say 7, will reach its maximum current first and will overpower the other winding 8. As the frequency continues to increase, the current in winding 7 will decrease, while that in winding 8 increases on its way to its maximum, till eventually winding 8. As the frequency continues this particular frequency, the polarized armature 11 moves to the dotted position operating contacts 12. A contact 15 also cuts out a resistance 18 to prevent "hunting."
