Abstract
621,778. Smoke generators. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. (General Electric Co.). May 10, 1945, No. 23066/48. Divided out of 621,734, [Group III] [Class 81(i)] A smoke generator consists of a chamber 1 having a central jet tube 2 directed axially upward through the bottom of the chamber, an axially mixing tube 3 located above and ir alignment with the jet tube, a large block 4 of hard non-corrosive material secured to, anc directly above, the mixing tube, shaped paddles 10 mounted on arms 9 attached to a driven vertical shaft 7 coaxial with the chamber for feeding the powdered smoke forming material, which is charged into the container up to the level 1, to the lower end of the mixing tube. In operation air or gas from the jet 2 sweeps the powder through the tube 3 and against the block 4 and the cloud of smoke so formed passes out through the line 13.
