Abstract

[Also in Group XXX] An apparatus for producing a smoke consisting of air laden with powdered luminescent material comprises a continuously vibrated vessel 2 containing the powdered material 1, a rotary toothed wheel 4 which dips into the material and extends into a slot in an air duct 8, and an injector apparatus 9 connected to a compressed air supply pipe 10. The material lodged between the teeth of the wheel is entrained in the air drawn in through the duct 8 and is blown by compressed air issuing from the nozzle 11 through the tube 12 on to a target 13 which may be made of ceramic material known under the Registered Trade Mark " Sintox ". The jacket 14 may lead to a tube coating equipment such as that described in Specification 621,734, [Group III]. Specification 638,060, [Group VI], also is referred to.
