Abstract

620,446. Gas turbine plant for jet-propulsion. LOMBARD, A. A., and OULIANOFF, G. Jan. 17, 1947, No. 1639. [Class 110(iii)] In a gas turbine plant for jet propulsion of aircraft, the diametral rods 20, Fig. 2, which support the conical structure 12 within the exhaust duct shell 11, are enclosed in fairings 25. The fairings have a stream-line shape along the lines of flow and the walls 25a, 25b are curved transversely as shown in Fig. 3. The walls are welded to end plates 29. The rods are secured to bushes 22 on the shell 11 and pass through bushes 30 on the end plates 29 and bushes 24 on stiffening members 14 of the conical structure and on central tube 17. The tube 17 is secured at one end to a flexible flange 18 and at the other end is a sliding fit in the boss 19 of a stiffened disc 16 which supports a heat shield 15.
