Abstract

588,085. Jet propulsion turbine plant. POWER JETS, Ltd., McLEOD, R. C., and WATSON, K. March 15. 1943, No. 4232. [Class 110 (iii)] A thrust augmentor comprises twotiered bladings on a disc 10. The outer bladings 29 are empowered by the exhaust of the main turbine and the inner bladings 27 compress fresh air and deliver it through fixed guide blades 15 to the main jet stream. The disc 10 is mounted freely on a sleeve 11 carried by a fixed shaft 9. The sleeve is secured in place by a screwed part 1'8 and, when the latter is removed, the sleeve 11, disc 10 and the conical parts 12, 13 with the guide blades 15 and fairing 16 can be withdrawn in one piece. The shaft 9 is supported by an openwork cantilever structure 7 anchored to brackets 6A and a socket 6B which embraces a ball-end 8A of the shaft.
