Abstract

620,350. Swings. SIMPSON, H. H. Jan. 13, 1947, No. 1049. [Class 132 (i)] A frame for a swing comprises a horizontal member, from which the swing is suspended, supported at each end by a pair of extensible supports, the upper ends of which are connected to the horizontal member whilst their lower ends rest upon the ground a suitable distance apart and disposed one to the front and one to the rear of the cross member. Such a frame can be dismantled for storage or transport when desired, while the horizontal member can be raised or lowered relatively to the ground. One or both pairs of supports may be connected together with a tie bar which is adjustable in length. In Figs. 1 and 2, each support for member C comprises telescopic tubes A and B. The supports are provided with ground plates G and adjustable tie bars F. The shanks of hooks or eyes, to which the upper ends of the seat suspension ropes or the like are connected, pass through member C and are secured in position by nuts M. In Figs. 3 and 4, the lower' tubes A are replaced by U-shaped tubes H with upwardly extending parts H<SP>1</SP>. A construction is also shown in which the supports are made from angle sections of metal.
