620,242. Drawing devices for textile fibres. MACKIE & SONS, Ltd., J., and MACKIE, J. P. Jan. 10, 1947, No. 953. [Classes 120 (i) and 120 (ii)] A self-threading delivery device for use in a drawing head for slivers of long staple fibres, such as jute, comprises a conductor 6, extending over substantially the whole of the reach between the drawing rollers 1, 3 and the delivery rollers 7, 8, and a driven rubbing roller 4, preferably covered with felt, flannel or other soft material, working against the lower drawing roller 1, so as to direct onto the conductor a sliver end or separate fibres which may tend to follow the drawing roller beyond the edge of the conductor 6. This conductor is provided with side walls 12 to confine the sliver laterally and deliver it to the delivery rollers. The entry to the conductor is.wide and the side walls converge and when two slivers are drawn side by side they are condensed to a single sliver having smooth selvedges. The part of the conductor nearest to the drawing rollers may be a flat plate with a lip on the entry edge and with side walls beginning close to the delivery rollers, or a pair of forwarding rollers may be interposed between the plate portion and the walled part.
