Abstract

617,253. Glass manufacture. DEHN, S. G. (G.M.S. Corporation). Jan. 28, 1946, No. 2746. [Class 56] [Also in Group XXIV] In a Geneva drive mechanism for imparting intermittent rotation to the tables of a glassware forming machine, similar to that described in Specification 534,625, wherein the axis of a crank arm which rotates the Geneva driver may be adjusted relative to the driver axis to vary the respective periods of index and dwell, the crank arm is carried by a pivoted sector having shifting means to effect the required adjustment and is driven by a train of gears, mounted on the sector, one of which is coaxial with the sector axis. The Geneva drive mechanism is provided for one table, the other being driven therefrom by a gear train. As shown, the sector 45 carrying the crank pin 49 on a bull wheel 44, is rotatable in a bearing 47, after slackening off clamps 52, 56, by means of a calibrated rotatable plug 61 having an eccentric pin 60 engaging a slot 58 in the sector. A slide or roller 70 on the crank pin 49 engages a radial slot 71 in the Geneva driver 73. The bull wheel is driven from a variable speed electro-motor through a belt drive, a clutch and a gear train which includes elements 39, 42 on a shaft 40 coaxial with, and journalled at one end in, a sleeve 46, whereby the sector 45 is journalled in the bearing 47.
