[Classes 29 and 64(iii)] In a continuous cycle absorption refrigerating system of the inert gas type, a gas-heat exchanger comprises a pipe member divided by a longitudinal partition 4 welded in the pipe 1, 2 into two channels 9, 10, U-shaped metal fins 5 being welded to each side of the partition 4 along the base 6 of the U at an oblique angle to the length of the pipe and perpendicular to the partition 4. The fins are of triangular shape. In a modification, Fig. 4, each U- shaped fin is divided into two parts 7, 8 which are welded in spaced relation along the pipe 1, 2. In a further modification, Fig. 6 (not shown), the dividing partition 4 is dished towards the central axis of the pipe 1, 2 so that the inert gas and ammonia mixture in the upper path of flow 9 tends to remain along the axis of the pipe 1, 2. The two halves 1, 2 of the pipe are welded to the partition 4.
