Abstract
614,489. Water gas plant. HUMPHREYS & GLASGOW, Ltd., and PHILLIPS, I. H. July 15, 1946, No. 21188. [Class 55 (i)] A water gas installation comprises two generators 1 with jacket low pressure boilers 1a which are connected through non-return valves 6 and a pressurecontrolled reducing valve 7 with a main 2 leading exhaust steam to the generators from auxiliaries 5 receiving steam from high-pressure waste heat boilers 3. A connection through a reducing valve 8 either before or after reducing valve 7 enables steam from boilers 3 to pass to main 2. When both generators are using steam for gas making a fall of pressure in main 2 causes valve 7 to admit steam from the jacket boilers, and valve 8 opens to admit steam from boilers 3 when the pressure in the jacket boilers has reached a determined minimum. The high pressure steam may be supplemented from a source 4a if necessary. In the case of a single generator installation, that part of the exhaust steam not utilizable for feedwater heating passes to atmosphere or is condensed during the blow period.
