Abstract

612,304. Aeroplanes. BLOMQVIST, A. R. Oct. 8, 1940, No. 15022. Convention date, Sept. 11, 1939. [Class 4] An aeroplane with planes arranged as shown, is driven by pairs of bladed rotors 1, one on each side of the fuselage, rotating within recesses in the upper surface of each plane at about midchord, and having relatively large clearances within their recesses. The front plane is smaller than the main plane and the rear plane is smaller still and both are adjustable about transverse axes 3, the main plane being fixed. Fins 5, fitted with rudders 4 are provided at the tips of each plane, and flaps 2 are provided at the trailing edges. The aspect ratio of the planes is from three or four to one. When the engine is declutched the rotors may be coupled to previously speeded-up flywheels to assist landing. A tractor screw may be provided in addition to the rotors.
