608,841. Plate sleepers; tie-bars. MILLS, Ltd., EXECUTORS OF J., and MACBETH, A. May 9, 1946, No. 13980. Addition to 570,124. [Class 104 (ii)] The recessed seat of s pot or plate sleeper 7, Fig. 1, for a wooden tiebar 9 opens laterally, sc that the tie-bar is inserted sideways without having to disturb the ballast. The recess may taper on one or both sides and the securing- bolt 10 passes horizontally through the vertical wall 8 of the recess. The tie-bar may be round, Fig. 5, and the recess semicircular, a semicircular cap 12 provided, the cap and its seat having complementary projections and notches 13, 14.
