Abstract
608,465. Securing turbine discs on shafts. GALLIOT, J. A. N. Feb. 25, 1946, Nos. 5774 and 12498. [Class 80 (ii)] [Also in Group XXVI] An apertured turbine disc is provided with vanes 16 in the aperture which act as spokes and the means for attaching the disc rim to the shaft 10. The inner ends of the vanes 16 are formed wedge-shaped, Fig. 5, the inner edges of alternate vanes engaging splines 38 on the shaft 10. The wedge-shaped roots are clamped together by means of hub plates 39 machined with circumferential grooves 40 engaging ribs 41 on the wedges. The pressure between the plates is maintained by a nut on the shaft. The plates 39 may be made in halves connected by bolts, the periphery of each half being provided with an inturned flange which hooks over an outwardly turned flange formed by arcuate projections on the opposite faces of the wedges.
