515,926. Turbines and turbo - compressors. TULALMANYKIFEJLESZTO ES ERTEKESITO, K. F. T. July 7, 1938, No. 20130. Convention date, July 7, 1937. [Classes 110 (i) and 110 (iii)] Turbine and turbo-compressor rotors are built up of discs with conical or cylindrical annular struts. The struts 11 may be formed on both sides of and integral with alternate rotor discs; the intervening discs being provided with flanges 12 against which the struts abut. The assembly is clamped upon the rotor shaft 7 between a collar and a nut 10; conical end pieces 14, 15 being positioned between the outside discs and the collar and nut. The end piece 15 is keyed to the shaft and the discs are operatively coupled together either by the friction of smooth surfaces or the contacting surfaces of the discs and struts may be formed with complementary toothing. Figs. 4 and 5 show other forms of rotor struts. The blade space of a rotory compressor, Fig. 1, is separated from the rotor spaces by short cylinders 20 secured at one end to one rotor disc and lying radially within a flange 21 fixed on the adjacent disc. A cooling medium may be admitted to the rotor spaces through passages 17. In a gas turbine, the air compressor rotor 'and the turbine rotor may be assembled as one unit; the two rotor parts being separated by a strut member of a length sufficient to bridge the combustion chamber region. The blade space of the turbine rotor may be separated from the rotor spaces by sealing rings which lie within flanges on adjacent rotor discs.
