Abstract

606,916. Rotary cylindrical valves. THOMPSON PRODUCTS, Inc. Jan. 21, 1946, No. 1946. Convention date, Jan. 22, 1945. [Class 135] A valve housing port 23 is sealed by a onepiece deformable member 24 comprising a sleeve 24b having its end face 24c contoured to seal the valve plug 16 and having a flange 24a forming a gasket between the housing face and a nipple 20 mounted thereon. The flange 24 is located by lugs 24e engaging in recesses 26, and a flanged metal ring 25 stiffens the sleeve end and forms an abutment for a sleeve supporting spring 27. The housing face is rounded at 11e and the nipple is recessed at 20b to accommodate flexing of the diaphragm-like midportion of the sleeve 24b. The plug 16 is rotatably mounted on carbon bearing rings 14, 15 and is aligned by spring-pressed pins 28 engaging spaced notches 17b.
