[Class 20(ii)] A window-scaffold comprises a main frame 10 of tubular members 11, 12, 13, 14 supporting a seat 15 and an auxiliary frame 46 comprising a U-shaped tubular member 47 the legs of which slide inside the longitudinals 11 of the main frame and are adjustably secured therein by pins 50 engaging selected holes 49 in the members 11, 47. The members 11 carry lugs 41 with screwed bosses 44 in which work vertical threaded spindles 42 provided at the top with handles 45 and at the bottom with pads 43 to engage the upper surface of a window sill. Depending from and pivoted on a crossmember 48 of the auxiliary frame 46 is a frame 52 carrying at its lower end two threaded spindles 61 with handles 63. and pads 62 to engage the inside surfaces of the wall. The frame 52 comprises vertical members 55 braced by brackets 53 bearing at 58 against the rear part of the auxiliary frame 46. Hinged to extensions of the rear member 12 of the main frame are a pair of struts 18 with pads 20 at their outer ends to engage the outer surface of the wall. The struts are maintained in inclined position by pins 25 passing through holes in the struts and screwing into the extended ends of the horizontal member of a U-shaped frame 22 depending from and hinged to lugs 27 on the member 14 of the main frame. A folding guard 30 comprising a continuous rail 36, 38, 39 with spigots 40 at its ends engaging holes in the lugs 41 on the main frame is hinged to uprights 31 themselves hinged in lugs 34 carried on the rear member 12 of the main frame. The first Provisional Specification also describes a non-tubular construction in which the struts are adjustable by means of tie rods pivoted to the struts and passing upwardly through holes in the main frame, the ends of the tie rods being screw-threaded and provided with wing-nuts to pull the struts upwards and against the outer face of the wall. The main frame also carries depending bars which abut against the vertical face of a window-sill and are connected by a horizontal bar engaging beneath the window-sill. The depending bars may pass through holes in the main frame and be adjustable in the same way as the tie rods. A different construction of folding guard is also described, also adjustable clamps to engage under the internal ledge of a window frame. The second Provisional Specification describes a construction in which the auxiliary frame comprises bars of inverted T-section working in guides formed by pairs of L-section bars on the main frame. Depending legs and a horizontal bar engage the vertical face and beneath a window-sill respectively and the struts are adjustably attached to short depending legs at the rear of the frame and also to the sill-engaging legs to permit the struts to be adjusted lengthwise while maintaining the same inclination. A different seat is also described, and a different form of folding guard.
