Abstract
604,798. Centrifugal pumps. EDWARDS, M. L. Dec. 4, 1945, No. 32713. Convention date, July 14. [Class 110 (i)] An electrically-driven submerged petrol pump comprises centrifugal pumping blades 40 delivering into a volute chamber 18 and thence to an outlet 21 and screw blades 37b in the open upper end of the rotor. The blades 40 are shaped as shown in Fig. 3 or Fig. 4 to cause eddies in the enlarged spaces c. The eddies cause a separation of the vapour from the liquid and the vapour is drawn off axially by the screw blades 37b and returned to the tank. The blades are secured to the rotor 37a and to a flanged shrouding ring 39. The blades 40 are enclosed, with running clearance, by a stator ring 31.
