Abstract

603,726. Automatic frequency-controlling systems. BELCHER, J. C. Sept. 12, 1945, No. 23519. [Class 38 (iv)] A method of stabilizing the output of a calibrated variable frequency oscillator A consists in feeding the signals therefrom, preferably after amplification by a buffer amplifier B, to a mixer C, where they are mixed with harmonics of stable oscillations from a low-frequency oscillator E, feeding the mixed output to a low-pass (audio frequency) filter F which attenuates all but one controlling lowfrequency of known value produced by the beating of the generator frequency with a harmonic of the oscillator E, and then, at G, mixing the controlling low-frequency with the output of a calibrated audio-frequency oscillator H which is set to produce zero beat therewith in the mixer, the output from the mixer G being fed to a frequency or reactance modulator I which, in turn, feeds its output to the tuned circuit of the signal generator A, thereby controlling or locking the resonant frequency of the signal generator. The final stabilized radio frequency oscillation is obtained from the buffer amplifier B.
