602,292. Releasable fastenings. GOULD, J. Nov. 9, 1945, No. 29934. [Class 44] [Also in Group XXXII] Three types of releasable fastening are used in locking a folding push chair (see Group XXXII) in its unfolded position. In the first, a wheel-bearing member 4 adapted to fold from the position shown in Fig. 5 by clockwise rotation about an axis above and slightly to the right of the wheel 5, carries a casing 43 within which is mounted a pin 38 having a conical extremity 39 normally urged by a spring 41 into a conical recess 40 in a fixed member 37 but adapted to be withdrawn by its head 42. The second, Fig. 3, maintains a pair of arms 14 pivoted about an axis 19 to a sheet metal backrest 9 in alignment with the back-rest, and comprises pawls 20 each pivoted at 21 to the back rest and urged through registering slots in the members 14 and 9 by a link connection 23 to a pivoted lever 25 biassed by a spring 26. The lever 25 may be turned to release the fastening by a knob on the outside of the casing 27. The third comprises a spring urged catch 44 slidable in a slot 46 in the edge of the backrest 9, Fig. 1, pivoted at 12 and comprising a threaded pin and milled-headed nut which co-operate with a keyhole slot 45 in arm rests 7 pivoted at 8 to keep the arm rest and back rest upright.
