Abstract

597,799. Ellipsographs. BOURNE, F. W. Aug. 27, 1945, No. 22005. [Class 97 (iii)] The apparatus comprises a transparent baseplate 1 having parallel members 2, 3, which provide a guide channel for the slide 4, and an arm formed by parallel rods 5, 6, connected by spacing elements 7, 8, the latter having a curved outer surface. The rods 5, 6, can be secured adjustably but with free rotational movement to one end of the slide 4 by tightening the knurled head on the device 10. A pen or pencil is inserted through a hole in the slide 11 which may be clamped to the rods 5, 6. The position of the base-plate 1 is determined by a datum line (not shown), between the members 2, 3, and another, 13, parallel to the edge 11 of the plate 1. In use the arm 5, 6 is moved so that the element 8 rocks and slides along the edge 11, when half the ellipse may be drawn.
