717,327. Drawing instruments. GEORGAKIS, V. Nov. 14, 1952 [Aug. 14, 1951], No. 19124/51. Classes 97(2) and 97(3) A drawing instrument consists of a pair of straight arms 10, 11 pivoted together at one end, means for indicating the angle between the arms comprising a degree scale inscribed about a circular pivot 15 forming part of arm 11, the arm 10 being inscribed with an arrow 14 for indicating on the scale the angle between the arms, and a holder 22 for a marking device slidably mounted on arm 11. the holder comprising spring clips 18, 19 such that the marking device may be disposed either parallel to arm 11 or at right angles to the plane of the arms. As shown, arms 10, 11 each have a scale of length and are clamped by a nut 16. The carriage 22 slides along a slot in arm 11 and may be clamped by a knob 26. Removable compass points 30 are fixed to the ends of arms 10. 11. To use as a square or bevel protractor, nut 16 is slacked off and tightened after the arms have been set at the required angle by means of the scale and pointer 14. A lip formed at one edge of arm 10 enables the arm to be set against the work. Lines may then be drawn by a pencil clamped in holder 18 by moving carriage 22 along the arm. By clamping carriage 22 and slackening nut. 16, arm 11 may be swung to draw--circular arcs. The compass points 30 are placed in position to use the instrument as dividers. To use it as a compass, a compass point :is. positioned on arm 10, and a pencil is placed in holder 19 on carriage 22, which is clamped in a convenient position. A pendulum level 31 is mounted in a recess in arm 10 between sheets of " Perspex " (Registered Trade Mark.)
