Abstract

594,898. Roofs. O'SULLIVAN, E. April 3, 1945, No. 8245. [Class 20(iv)] Sloping roof rafters 11 are held down on their supports by a member 16 extending transversely of, and bearing upon, them, this member being attached to the building structure. As shown, the member 16 is formed by a metal rod engaging in aligned recesses 15 in the rafters, the ends of the rod being embedded in the walls of the building. Hooks 18 on the ends of the ceiling joists 17 engage over the rods 16 and prevent outward movement of the rafters, which are supported at their upper ends by the lugs 13 engaging over a V-section ridge member 14.
