591,839. Abrasive articles. MICROMATIC HONE CORPORATION. March 14, 1945, No. 6397. Convention date, March 9, 1944. [Class 60] [Also in Group VIII] A method of forming a homogeneous abrasive article includes the steps of bonding abrasive grains with a material which only partially fills the voids between the grains, leaving the resulting structure porous, and filling the pores with liquid. gelatin which solidifies, and hardening the solidified gelatin thereafter. Abrasive particies 6 are bonded by material 7 to leave pores 8 which are filled by gelatin 9 by immersion in a solution of gelatin under vacuum. The gelatin is solidified by dehydration and hardened by immersion in tannic acid, formaldehyde or chromic acid.
