Abstract

588,512. Pedals. WEBB & CO., Ltd., H. C., and TAYLOR, F. W. Feb. 24, 1945, No. 4702. [Class 136 (ii)] In a pedal for a cycle or like machine provided with a dust excluding cap 12 at the end of the pedal centre near the crank, the dust cap is annular and of channel section, one axially directed cylindrical flange serving for its attachment around a part of the pedal spindle and the other encircling and overlapping the projecting end of the pedal centre with a small running clearance so that the pedal centre can rotate relatively to the spindle and dust cap. The diecast tubular pedal centre 3 has annular recesses around the ends of its plain bore to house steel cups 8 for end bearings 7 and is shouldered down at its end adjacent the pedal crank to receive and project beyond a pedal end plate 4 where it is overlapped by the flanges of the dust cap 12. The inner flange of the cap has an interference fit on a reduced part 10 of a pedal spindle 1.
