Abstract

Disazo dyes are produced by coupling one molecular proportion of tetrazotized 1-amino-4-(41 - amino) - benzoylaminobenze with one molecular proportion of salicylic acid or substitution product thereof and then with one molecular proportion of 2-benzoylamino-5-hydroxynaphthalene - 7 - sulphonic acid. In examples, 1-amino-4-(41-amino)-benzoylaminobenzene is coupled with (1) salicylic acid and 2 - benzoylamino - 5 - hydroxynaphthalene - 7 - sulphonic acid; (2) 2 - hydroxy - 3 - methyl - benzene-1-carboxylic acid and 2-benzoylamino-5-hydroxynaphthalene-7-sulphonic acid; (3) 2-hydroxy-4-methylbenzene-1-carboxylic acid and 2-benzoylamino-5-hydroxynaphthalene-7-sulphonic acid; and (4) 2-hydroxy-3-chlorobenzene - 1 - carboxylic acid and 2 - benzoyl - amino-5-hydroxynaphthalene-7-sulphonic acid. The dyestuffs dye cotton and regenerated cellulose fibres in red shades which become fast to light and washing after treatment with copper salts.
