Abstract

583,768. Machinery guards. PEST CONTROL, Ltd., and DORMAN, A. K. Dec. 1, 1944, No. 24021. [Class 80 (iv)] A guard for a power shaft, driving, for example, an agricultural machine from a tractor, consists of two tubular telescopic portions 1, 1', the opposite ends 2, 2' of which are supported in universal mountings. As shown in Fig. 1, these mountings comprise pivot pins 4, 4<1> carried in rings 5, 5<1> which are further pivotally mounted on pins 6, 6<1> carried by bracket members 7, 7<1> which members have openings 8, 8<1> for the passage of the shaft and are secured to the framework of the machine or machines. In a modification, Fig. 3, the end 2 of each telescopic portion 1 is pivoted to aT-bolt 12 which is adapted to swivel on an angle bracket 14 fitted to the machine.
