780,930. Machinery guards. VVALTER. SCHEID, J., WALTERSCHEID, G., MULLER, B. WALTERSCHEID-, ORTHEN, E., and SCHROTER, K., [trading as WALTERSCHEID, J., [Firm of]]. Dec. 29, 19.54 [March 29, 1954 ; April 30, 1954], No. 5816/57. Class 80 (4). A guard cover for a rotating telescopic shaft 4 universally coupled between driving and driven shafts, and particularly applicable to a power take-off drive from a tractor, comprises tele. scopic tubular shields 12, 13, one of which at least is supported on. the shaft 4 by a bearing 43, and cover means 41 secured to the tubes 12, 13 to protect each universal joint without hindering the operation thereof. The cover means 41 are preferably funnel-shaped and of resilient material such as synthetic rubber. The bearing 43 may be ball or roller and supported on a resilient bush 42. Relative rotation between tubes 12 and 13 may be prevented by a longitudinal protuberance on one engaging a longitudinal groove in the other. Specification 776,888 is referred to.
