583,251. Door latches. WILMOTBREEDEN, Ltd., GOUGH, L., and SPICER, H. J. Sept. 11, 1944, No. 17316. [Class 44] In a door fastening, particularly for vehicle doors, in which a bolt is operable either by an inside handle or by an outside handle, the handles being mounted on separate axes and actuating the bolt through an intermediate member, the latter is moved to a position clear of a follower or the like on the spindle of the outside handle by reverse rotation of the inside handle so as to render the outside handle non-effective. The spring urged sliding bolt a is actuated by movement of a pivoted intermediate member c when the latter is actuated either by a follower d on the spindle of the outside handle, or by a follower e on the spindle of the inside handle. Reverse rotation of the latter moves the member c into the position shown in broken lines, in which it is clear of the follower d. The follower e is held in its two alternative positions by the engagement of a spring i in notches j.
