Abstract

583,138. Ladders. GRAVITY LADDERS, Ltd., and BACH, C. H. Sept. 16, 1944, No. 17751. [Class 20 (ii)] An all-metal convertible long and step ladder, preferably of aluminium or light alloy, has sides a of channel or other flanged section and tubular or other rungs b rigidly connected to the sides. The shorter section may be hinged to the lugs c by its topmost rung, as shown, or by separate pins. When the device is extended for use as a long ladder the plates d abut against the sides of the shorter section. Pivoted links f are engaged with studs g when the device is used as a pair of steps. The links may be pivoted to, or adapted to hook over, a rung, and when not in use may be retained in position alongside the section to which they are hinged by a spring- clip. A link or clip may be provided to hold the sections together when the device is folded up. Rubber pads may be fitted to the bottoms of the sides.
